HDSS Partners with UNESCO to Launch Global 'Tech for All' Campaign

Paris, France — In a historic move to promote digital equity and environmental sustainability, HDSS announced today a formal partnership with UNESCO to launch the ambitious Tech for All campaign. The global initiative aims to deliver 1 million refurbished laptops to under-resourced schools in Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America by the year 2027.

At a ceremony held at UNESCO Headquarters, HDSS Founder Abdullah Al Muhairi emphasized the urgent need to bridge the digital divide:

“Technology should not be a privilege reserved for a few. Together with UNESCO, we aim to empower millions of young minds by putting modern technology directly into their hands, while combating the global e-waste crisis.”

The Tech for All program will leverage HDSS’s proven model of collecting unused laptops, refurbishing them through its technology partners SharafDG and Jumbo, and delivering them to the world’s most marginalized schools. In addition, the initiative will integrate teacher training, local maintenance programs, and recycling hubs to ensure long-term sustainability.

UNESCO’s Director-General Audrey Azoulay praised the collaboration, stating,

“This partnership stands as a beacon of what can be achieved when innovation, education, and environmental stewardship come together.”

The campaign’s first pilot phase will start in Kenya, the Philippines, and Haiti in early 2026.
